Drawing influence from early Chinese martial arts and self-defence systems such as Karate, Taekwondo has origins reaching back to ancient Korea.

Today, Taekwondo is one of the most popular martial arts in the world and is the national sport of South Korea.

Like other martial arts, Taekwondo is a system of self-defence that uses a combination of blocking and striking techniques to attack and defend.

Where Taekwondo differentiates itself is through it’s high-flying, powerful kicking techniques.

As well as a popular self-defence system with a rich history, Taekwondo is one of the few martial arts to be an Olympic Sport, first debuting at the Seoul Olympics in 1988.

Since 2000, Taekwondo sparring has been a full medal Olympic Sport, delighting spectators with its fast kicking style.
